Initially designed for a location known as ‘Harris Hill’ in Nelson, this design can work as well on the flat.  The house comprises of living, sleeping and garage wing with strong raking roof lines creating a rhythm of forms.  All rooms have been arranged with full glazing and clerestory windows  to look out over the bay to the sea and mountain views, while large roof overhangs prevent overheating in summer.  The cladding’s a contrast of plaster and cedar with highlights of concrete block for the garage and columns.
